ONLINE THERAPY FOR ADULTS IN MN

Culturally Responsive Therapy

Identifying as a bicultural individual offers its unique challenges. Bicultural individuals are those whose cultural practices, values, and identifications reflect two cultures (i.e., ethnic minorities, interracial individuals, immigrants, adoptees). It can elicit both pride and shame, and it’s not uncommon for confusion and uncertainty to arise in individuals when their coexisting cultural identities clash.

Do you find yourself straddling two distinct cultural identities? Are you feeling overwhelmed by the pressure to conform to societal norms and ideals from both sides? Navigating the dichotomy of these identities often lead to feeling like you don’t fully belong to either world, and can lead to a sense of confusion and identity crisis.

Tending to your family, heritage, and others first can be very meaningful and promote a sense of satisfaction and give your life a sense of purpose. However, constant self-sacrifice and trying to appease everyone else’s wishes will cause feelings of disconnection with yourself and result in you basing your worth on how others see you. You’ve spent your whole life prioritizing the needs and wants of others, but the most important person you’re forgetting is yourself.

I’ve been through it too— I see you, I hear you, I understand you.

It’s possible to live a life where you can truly embrace who you are and where you come from. I will help you identify the parts that make you, you. Together, we will uncover hidden beliefs that shape your behaviors and choices, and discover new ways to show up more genuinely.
